📓
Feature Tested: Distinct Notification Treatment
</aside>
Objective
The session was conducted to understand whether users could understand the Distinct Notification Treatment prototype, whether the experience felt intuitive, and whether the feature addressed the problem of users potentially missing the daily BeReal notification.
Key Findings
1. Prototype concept was easy to understand
- Participants were able to figure out the purpose of the prototype without requiring significant explanation.
- The overall concept of making the BeReal notification more noticeable was clear to participants.
- Participants understood how the feature was intended to support the daily posting experience.
2. Main usability hurdle: Starting point
- The primary point of confusion was the initial entry point into the prototype.
- The prototype began by simulating an incoming notification, which was not immediately obvious to participants as the starting point.
- Participants needed some initial guidance to understand where they were expected to begin interacting with the prototype.
- Once they understood the starting point, they were able to navigate and understand the feature more easily.
3. Overall reaction to the feature was positive
- Participants responded positively to the overall feature concept.
- After getting past the initial prototype entry point, participants were able to understand the experience and how the notification treatment could help them notice the daily BeReal prompt.
- No major usability concerns were identified beyond the initial starting-point confusion during the session.
Usability Insight
The biggest learning from the session was that the product concept itself was understandable, but the prototype's entry point created unnecessary friction.
